IVAC2 Progress

IVAC2 Progress

We previously advised that we were expecting to make a new public version of IVAC2 available around the end of July… but the more observant of you will be aware that we’re now almost at the end of August. So what gives?

We did actually send a build to the DP teams for testing on 31st July, that we anticipated going to public release a week-or-so later. Unfortunately a combination of technical and personal factors got in the way, and by the middle of August we were already close to having additional features ready, that we decided to wait and release them all together in one go. The latest build went to DP teams for testing yesterday, and currently doesn’t have any reported problems… so it looks like the public release will be available in the next week-or-so.

Here is a quick peek at some of what we have around the corner…

As noted in our last blog, work is progressing on IVAC2, adding some additional small features and improvements. However, we recognise that many of the “big” features we want to add are impracticable or impossible to add without changes to the underlying server infrastructure. So that is what we are  now working on!

Onward and Upward

Onward and Upward

Since the first IVAC2 public beta release on 02-Jun-2017, many of the Terminal2 staff have been taking a much needed break from coding, documenting, testing, planning, and the myriad of other duties that goes on behind the scenes. We recently had a full team meeting, to make plans for the next phase of development.

Countdown to Release… 1… LIFT OFF!

Countdown to Release… 1… LIFT OFF!

(Okay, so we know we’re providing ATC for simulated aircraft rather than virtual space rockets, but it seemed like the right phrase to use!)

Terminal2Solutions is proud to announce that IVAC2 is now available for use on the IVAO network.

The software should be available to download after 19:00z from the IVAO website downloads page.

In the event that the IVAO server is slow due to high-demand, you can also download it directly from the Terminal2Solutions download page.

Online documentation can be found in the Terminal2 Documents Library.

Enjoy!

Regular readers will note that we previously advised that the first public beta version of IVAC2 would be “around the end of May”. As today is the last day of May we wanted to bring you another update!

After another week of busy coding and testing, we provided a “Release Candidate” for our data-preparation teams this morning. So far, the feedback has been very positive, with only one minor bug which has already been corrected. We therefore expect the first public release to be within the next week. To mark the occasion, we will be hosting a live “Twitch” session on Friday 02 Jun 2017 at 18:00z, during which users will be able to post questions on Twitch, Twitter or Facebook for the T2 team to answer.

IVAC2 Progress Update

Over the last week we have been working hard to make the final preparations for both the release of IVAC2, and to enable DataPrep teams to be opened-up to new members.

Data Preparation – Update

Data Preparation – Update

A couple of weeks has flown by since our last Facebook post, during which time we’ve all been hard at work making preparations for the release of the IVAC2 public beta version. Well, actually a few of the T2 team took a short break to squeeze in a visit to the German Flight Simulation Conference in Paderborn last weekend. Here is a quick update on how the data-preparation is progressing…

The Vital Statistics

At the time of writing, the DP portal has registered members from 161 FIRs in 62 different countries. A few countries have a very large number of FIRs, including USA/Canada (31 FIRs combined), Russian Federation (28 FIRs) and China (16 FIRs)… and they have a very large job in preparing their data!
